Years ago, I spent hundreds of dollars for bonding on a tooth. During this time I was enjoying coffee--the quality stuff--with my neighbors and friends, too. I didn't want to lose the effect of the bonding, not stop my coffee breaks. But coffee can stain teeth and it's acidic, like orange juice and vinegar--which can erode enamel. So, I turned to a couple of tricks that I still put to work these days.
First, I use a straw despite the shape of coffee cup. Next, I'll rinse my mouth with water (if possible) after drinking the dark beverage. And, if at home, sometimes I'll even brush my teeth, especially if the coffee drink is garnished with dark chocolate (which also can stain your teeth). This way, you can have your smile and coffee, too.
A bonus tip: Low-acid coffee causes less teeth staining.
